Threaded brass inserts engineered for installation in wood. The external thread features knife edges that grip deeply into the wood, keeping the insert securely in place — while the internal thread accepts metric, inch, BA or special threaded fasteners.

Our threaded brass inserts for wood have an external thread with knife edges which grip deeply into the wood and keep the insert securely in place — suitable for wood where no thread is already present.
The internal thread is supplied in metric, inches, BA or any special thread, which allows numerous fasteners to be used. Standard sizes span 1/4" to 3/4" or 2mm to 12mm, with custom dimensions to specification.
Standard ranges shown. Custom sizes, threads, materials and finishes produced to drawing.
The defining feature of our wood inserts is the external thread with sharp knife edges, which cut into the wood as the insert is driven in. Once seated, the wood grain compresses around the knife thread, holding the insert firmly in place even under load and vibration.
The internal thread is independent of the external — so any standard fastener (metric, inch, BA or special) can be used to attach to the insert.
Beyond catalogue range, Prime develops wood inserts to customer specifications — custom internal threads, OD profiles, lengths and brass compositions.
